The Wyrms are a reclusive and enigmatic race that dwells primarily underground in a vast system of tunnels connecting various regions. They are known for their formidable size, strength, and territorial nature. Wyrms are humanoid beings with physical adaptations that allow them to thrive in the depths of the earth.
Wyrms are highly territorial and often keep to themselves deep within their subterranean tunnels. Their culture emphasizes self-sufficiency and protection of their underground homes. They possess a unique system of trade where outsiders can purchase passage through their tunnels, but the Wyrms are vigilant against any attempts at deception or cheating. They have an exceptional ability to discern dishonesty, making them formidable negotiators.
The Wyrms can trace their origins back to a group of Dragons who were forced to leave the Floating Isles. These Dragons, originally part of the larger Dragon population on the Floating Isles, sought refuge and territory in the continent's underground regions. Over time, they adapted to their new environment, evolving into the unique race known as the Wyrms. Their existence became closely intertwined with the network of tunnels they carved out in the earth.
The Wyrms have established an extensive tunnel system connecting the Holy Valley to the Great Southern Delta, providing an alternative route to navigate the dangerous Great Stormwall and the Dark Swamp. While the tunnels offer safer passage, they come at a cost, with travelers having to provide a sufficient amount of meat as payment to the Wyrms for their services. This system of trade and access to the tunnels is carefully monitored and regulated by the Wyrms.
